My musings on the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World
Greetings everyone,
Today, I am sharing my thoughts about the recent trailer release for "Falcon Cap." If you recall from my previous video about the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, you'd know why I call it that (for the uninitiated, the link's in the description). The movie, from where it stands, has quite a task at hand to redeem Sam, considering his positioning at the end of the series.
Unfortunately, the film's progress has been marred by two major reshoots, poor screenings, and more reshoots in the pipeline. This certainly casts a shadow over its potential success. The trailer, in my opinion, feels like a barrage of action scenes interspersed with sporadic dialogues - a typical trailer, if you will. The underlying theme seems to be grounded in a Winter Soldier-esque vibe with a dash of magical metal and a president transforming into a red Hulk.
However, there are instances where the trailer seems to tread familiar ground. The novelty of the split-screen format wears thin after a while, and a misplaced MCU quip adds to the peculiarity. Another oddity is Sam's helmet, which performs the magic tracking routine we've seen too often but leaves his goggles behind.
While the costume is decent and the action sequences are visually appealing, the overall trailer felt somewhat underwhelming to me. It's hard to say if my lack of interest in Sam's story is the cause, or my dissatisfaction with the MCU's output since Endgame. It seems rather than eagerly anticipating the next release, I now need to be convinced to be interested again.
The introduction of Red Hulk might be an attempt to reel in the geeks, but it doesn't resonate with me. Also, there's been some debate about the feasibility of Sam, a normal human, going against the Hulk. I feel the balance of power levels is crucial and needs careful handling. Yes, Sam has the magical metal frisbee suit and wings, but pitting him against Red Hulk on pure brute force threatens the dynamics of the world they've built.
Good writing could paint Sam as the hero who stands up to the unbeatable foe, sacrificing himself so others can escape. But considering the current writers' somewhat skewed understanding of heroism and morality, I'm sceptical.
In conclusion, the trailer wasn't a standout for me. It had some flare but lacked depth. However, I remain hopeful for a good MCU film, even if my expectations aren't high. What are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to this movie, or are you skeptical about the reshoots? Do share your views. Thanks for reading, and please like and subscribe if you enjoyed the article. Until next time, peace out.
